Danko Borkovic

Danko Borkovic is the Managing Attorney at Borkovic Law Group. Danko was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina where he lived until the age of seventeen. Due to the unfortunate circumstances and the horrific civil war that ensued in former Yugoslavia he became a refugee. Danko, while living a difficult life as a refugee, timely and successfully finished High School and Business College.

Danko legally came to the U.S. and settled in Tampa, Florida in May of 1997. He entered the workforce one day after receiving his social security number and pursued higher education in the U.S. while working to support himself. Danko graduated from the University of South Florida in Tampa with a degree in Business Administration in 2002.

Upon his graduation, Danko was recruited by the major U.S. insurance and financial services company to participate in the fast track leadership program. The talent search was very comprehensive and it involved several hundred candidates for this position. Danko completed the various types of insurance leadership training while working for the property and casualty insurance company. In addition, Danko successfully completed multiple levels of claims adjusting and the management training program. He excelled in his negotiation skills and was recognized for his achievements on multiple occasions.

However, Danko decided that his passion is helping people and defending their rights, which is why Danko pursued his legal education at Stetson University College of Law, the national leader in Trial Advocacy education. While at Stetson, Danko was selected to participate on the Stetson’s Advocacy Board. He represented Stetson at the regional and national negotiation competitions.

Danko was a legal clerk for the Honorable Richard Nielson, the presiding judge of the Complex Business Litigation at the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit in Tampa, Florida. In addition, Danko was honored to be a Certified Legal Intern at the State Attorney’s Office in Hillsborough County where he gained valuable trial experience while prosecuting misdemeanor crimes. Danko founded and was the first president of Eurolex Student Society at Stetson College of Law.

Danko founded Borkovic Law Group, PLLC in 2010 as a personal injury law practice dedicated working diligently to help the people not powerful. Danko works helping injured people in automobile accidents, trucking accidents, motorcycle accidents, bicycle accidents, pedestrian accidents, dog bite cases, boating accidents, premises liability, slip and fall cases, wrongful death, traumatic brain injury and serious spine injury cases.

Danko has handled countless personal injury cases and accomplished countless achievements to include multi million dollars in recoveries for his clients since starting Borkovic Law Group. Danko is very proud to be able to help his clients and bring much needed justice to his deserving clients.

Jelena Miokovic

Jelena Miokovic is an associate attorney at Borkovic Law Group. Originally from former Yugoslavia, Jelena relocated to the United States in 1997 with her parents as refugees. By the young age of 20, Jelena graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology degree from the University of South Florida. During her undergraduate studies, Jelena volunteered at the The Thirteenth Judicial Circuit’s Juvenile Diversion Program, which sparked a greater interest in her to pursue a legal career. Graduating from one of the most diverse law schools in the country, Jelena earned her Juris Doctor degree from Florida A&M University College of Law. Throughout her undergraduate studies and law school career, Jelena maintained employment at Borkovic Law Group. Jelena has been with Borkovic Law Group since 2014, where she started as an entry-level legal assistant, diligently progressed to case manager, and is now a dedicated associate attorney of the firm. Jelena is passionate and devoted to representing individuals and their families that have been injured and suffered losses due to the negligence of others. Jelena’s primary area of practice is personal injury law which includes automobile accidents, motorcycle accidents, trucking accidents, bicycle accidents, pedestrian accidents, boating accidents, slip and falls, dog bite attacks, and wrongful death cases. Jelena aspires to serve not only as an advocate for her clients but also as a counselor, educator, listener, and protector, all while zealously and aggressively fighting insurance companies and their attorneys to achieve justice and fair recovery that her clients deserve.

Liyelis Gonzalez

Liyelis Gonzalez is a paralegal at Borkovic Law Group. Liyelis is from Havana, Cuba, where she graduated from the Law School in 2010. Liyelis started her legal career in Cuba and was practicing as licensed attorney until 2016 when she decided to come to United States with her family. She wished to continue working in the legal field and started a new career as personal injury paralegal in United States. In 2019, Liyelis completed a Post Baccalaureate in Paralegal Studies and obtained her Paralegal Certificate from St. Petersburg College. Liyelis has been with Borkovic Law Group since November 2017.
